reated exclusively for girls and boys who will be entering the 1st or 2nd grade.
 

Each week, Freedom to Discover provides your child an opportunity to extend their curiosity beyond the core camp theme when they choose either a STEAM-based (Science, Technology, Arts, Engineering & Math) or traditional Arts-based enrichment project, such as building and programming LEGO robots. . . creating Pop Art paintings or Mayan masks sculptures. . .  constructing spycraft gadgets. . . developing animated stories. . . designing and making electronic inventions, and more!

The 2017 Summer Explorers Passport Adventures!

Summer days filled with fun, friendship and learning are in store for your child at our nine unique, one-week  Summer  Explorers: Passport to Adventures this 2017 summer camp season! You’re welcome to select as many as all nine Adventures. . . or as few as one. 


With two park-like locations this year-- our Ridgewood campus (Camp LIA)  and the campus of St. Joseph Regional High School in the Pascack Valley/Rockland County area (SJR)-- as the backdrops, your child’s imagination and skills will soar when they join us this summer for Summer Explorers. . . with plenty of time for water play, kickball, crafts and other fun, traditional summer day camp activities!


You can extend you child's camp day, too! With our CarePass program, Pre-Camp Morning (7:30 am-9 am) care & our After-Camp (1 pm-6 pm) enrichment program are available throughout the summer in one convenient package!

The Sounds of New Orleans!
Dates/Location(s): June 26–30 @ Camp LIA

                               Aug. 7-11 @ SJR

Hours: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

It’s time for Mardi Gras! Baubles, beads and jazz music form the backdrop as we set off to learn about the City of New Orleans! We’ll top the week off with our own Mardi Gras celebration, complete with costumes and a parade!

Freedom to Discover: Your camper will be able to choose between creating their own digital musical instruments and computer controllers with our Makey-Makey electronic invention kits or creating playable instruments using a variety of recycled materials.

 

Living on the Moon!
Dates/Location(s)June 26-30 @ SJR

                           July 3- July 7 @ Camp LIA (closed 7/4)
Hours: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.


It’s T-minus 10 seconds to fun as we take-off to colonize the moon! Campers will get to imagine what it might be like to live on the Moon. They’ll create their own Moon colony, complete with a robotic lunar rover and mock space shuttle! Outside we’ll try our hand at some NASA-inspired Astronaut training!


Freedom to Discover: Your camper can choose to build & code LEGO robots that will help in the moon mission or work to design the space shuttle and a 3D model of their new Moon colony!


North African Intrigue!
Dates/Location(s): July 17–21 @ SJR

                                Aug 14-18 @ Camp LIA 

Hours: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

The game is afoot along the coast of North Africa as our “spies” encounter the habitat and folk traditions from Morocco to Egypt. Throughout the week campers will learn what it takes to be a spy. They will work together to practice spy skills and create spy gadgets which they will use on the mission ahead.


Freedom to Discover: Campers will be able to choose between creating their own electronic spy gadgets using the LittleBits electronic invention system and materials from around the classroom or create and illustrate their own spy story using Scratch Jr.

 

Journey Through India!
Dates/Location(s): July 31-Aug. 4 @ SJR
                                Aug. 7-11 @ Camp LIA
Hours: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.


All aboard, as we set out on the rails and trails across the many regions of India! Campers will explore folk tales, learn the customs, games children play, and discover the unique wildlife of this amazing country.


Freedom to Discover: Your camper will be able to choose between creating, coding and animating their own traditional folk tale, using MIT’s Scratch Jr. programming language, or creating their own song and dance about one of the folk tales we've discovered.

Inspiration Nation
Dates/Location(s): July 10-14 @ Camp LIA
Hours: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Kids love to be creative!  Your camper will spend this week creating new art and interesting 21st-Century gadgets-- getting an introduction to a range of inventors and American Pop artists, then trying their hand at creating their own inventions and designs.


Freedom to Discover: Your camper will be able to choose between creating their own inventions using the LittleBits electronic invention system or creating their own new American Pop Art pieces!



Journey to the Mayan Ruins!

Dates/Location(s): July 10-14 @ SJR

                                July 17-21 @ Camp LIA
Hours: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

We will journey through Guatemala to visit ancient ruins and discover the culture of the people who lived in them. Campers will learn about Mayan art, folk tales and even construct their own pyramids!


Freedom to Discover: Your camper can choose among building & coding a LEGO robotic alligator, creating their own wall mural, clay figures, Mayan Masks, 3D models and more!


 


On the Road to Rome!
Dates/Location(s): July 24-28 @ SJR

                               July 31-Aug. 4 @ Camp LIA
Hours: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

All Roads Lead to Rome! See the sights, explore the history and discover the diverse culture of ancient Rome. We’ll play some of the games Roman children played, hear the stories they heard and even find out what it is like to wear a toga!

Freedom to Discover: Campers can choose to create LEGO simple machines and build & code robots, or create their own Roman frescoes and mosaics!

 


The Land Down Under!
Dates/Location(s): Aug. 14 – 18 @ SJR

                                Aug. 21-25 @ Camp LIA
Hours: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

G’day! Welcome to the land down under! A world filled with strange creatures and new cultures waiting to be discovered. As we move through the Outback, campers will learn about Australia’s Aboriginal people and how they used the resources around them to survive. They will also learn about the many animals only native to Australia.


Freedom to Discover: Your camper can build & code their own LEGO robotic car, installing sensors so their car can “see” objects or make authentic Aboriginal Art using leaves, wood carvings and rocks!




Gilligan's Island!

Dates/Location(s): July 24-28 @ Camp LIA
Hours: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Uh, Oh! We’ve shipwrecked on a deserted island. It is now up to our crew of campers to use their imaginations and some cool technology to create our new home away from home.  While on the “island” your child will build a fort outside, play in it, and learn to cook and make water by using the sun!


Freedom to Discover: Your camper will be able to choose between building and decorating their own full-size castaway island shelter or constructing & cooking in a solar oven and making water using just the sun!

Welcome to Little Ivy Academy's OneApp Registration Center for our 2017 Summer Crossroads summer camp programs.

The OneApp Registration form will allow you to select additional programs/sessions and register more than one of your children for as many program sessions as are available this summer.

Our Summer 2017 programs each have limited enrollment to provide your child with a robust, small-group summer day camp experience. We will process registrations on a rolling admission basis until each camp session is full.
